Cars on the Green - THIS FRIDAY

Taking place this September 25th, in the heart of the Dixboro Village, the 3rd Annual Cars on the Green auto show will be one of kind experience for the car enthusiast as well as the gastronomic foodie.  The event, paired with the Dixboro Farmers’ Market, is free and open to the public. Spectators will enjoy the energy of exotic, antique, classic, and one of a kind cars on the Dixboro Village Green.  Plenty of free parking is available as well as great food and an amazing community!

Vehicle Exhibition is FREE, although one must pre-register their vehicle. So, blow off the dust, shine up the leather, polish the chrome, and come show off your ride by REGISTERING HERE. 

Barbecue served Chuckwagon Style ! 

Savor the sweet smoky smell of barbecue at Hotel Hickman Chuckwagon Barbecue.  The Hickman crew will be out on the green serving up authentic chuckwagon cooking with a heaping dose of cowboy style friendly attitude.  From pulled pork sandwiches to a full slab of smoked ribs doused in a whiskey BBQ sauce, there is nothing on the menu that does not tease the palate.

We were so tickled when Wild Violet applied to be a vendor at our market.  They have proved themselves to be a great addition with food that keeps people taking (and licking their chops).  If you have not read the MLive article about the food truck, please click here to learn all about them.  Then head on down Friday evening to the Dixboro Farmers MarketDixboro Artisan Market and the Cars on the Green to taste what all the buzz is about!

RESERVE YOUR TURKEY
This year we are hosting a special holiday farmer’s market with all the gorgeous seasonal produce for your favorite Thanksgiving recipes.  Visit our website or the Manager’s Booth at the Market to reserve All-Natural, GMO-free Thanksgiving Turkey for $3.75 per pound.  The Turkey will be ready for pick-up and payment at the Thanksgiving Market, Tuesday November 24 from 10am – 2pm on the Dixboro Village Green.

Job Description

In 2013 the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation celebrated its 50th Anniversary and awarded a record $3.4 million in grants and scholarships, while receiving over $6.3 million in new gifts from more than 1,600 donors. AAACF currently manages over $76 million in total assets and more than 475 charitable funds on the community?s behalf. The Community Foundation has two geographic affiliates: the Ypsilanti Area Community Fund which was established in 2001, and the Community Foundation of Plymouth which was established in 2005.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the President & CEO is responsible for directing the overall program and administrative activities of the Community Foundation and for the effective use of its financial and human resources. The President & CEO will provide leadership around growth and innovation.

This person must possess a strong interest and background in civic involvement and community leadership. This person will demonstrate evidence s/he can be an articulate and inspirational champion of the Community Foundation, one who is highly visible and totally engaged in the life of the community. The qualified candidate will demonstrate success engaging with people of diverse racial and socioeconomic backgrounds and building rapport with those who have varying viewpoints and perceptions. A track record of success in board relations and a desire to actively engage board members in the work of the organization are necessary. Working effectively with community stakeholders, including elected officials, governmental leaders and the business sector will also require this person to be able to balance often competing priorities through win-win negotiating strategies. Leading and empowering a highly competent staff and volunteers are needed skills as well.

This person has experience in all development vehicles so as to comfortably engage potential donors in discussions. Entrepreneurial experience that proves the candidate?s ability to recognize and act on fund development opportunities that may be innovative or non-traditional would be highly valued. Career experience in a top leadership position in a community foundation or other grantmaking foundation is preferable and an understanding of the community foundation financial model is desired. Knowledge of the Ann Arbor area is strongly preferred. Formal academic preparation, including training and/or certification in fields related to law, business, financial planning or nonprofit management, is expected.
